LITTLE RIVER TRANSIT VILLAGE TOWN STUDY

The Village is the first tangible result of the joint planning effort between the Town of Newbury and City of Newburyport. This planning effort, enabled by a substantial grant from the Commonwealth, was initiated four years ago to plan for "smart" development in and around the Newburyport train station. The City and Town retained Taintor & Associates, Inc. to study development along the traffic circle, MBTA station, and Route 1 and devise a plan for the area. The Little River Transit Village Feasibility Study issued in November 2005 outlined Taintor's recommendations for the area including suggested uses for each parcel. The Village's proposed uses are in line with Taintor's report.
