The Town of Newbury Selectmen recently voted to formally request water and sewer from the City of Newburyport. The Selectmen sent a letter to Mayor Moak requesting that a task force be formed to study the issue. The Village has retained Woodard & Curran, a well respected municipal engineering firm, to study two issues. First, Woodard & Curran will determine the infrastructure improvements necessary to bring water and sewer to the Village. Second, it is understood that the extension of water and sewer to the Village must be a net gain to the City of Newburyport. In order to achieve this, Woodard & Curran will recommend mitigation that will be paid for by the developer to Newburyport in exchange for water and sewer. The first task force meeting will take place shortly and any minutes and reports generated throughout the process will be posted on this website. |
